Water Management and Resilience Analysis in Sub-Sahara African Countries: Cameroon Case Study
Integrated Water resource management is a comprehensive globally accepted framework for sustainable and inclusive management of water resources for social, economic and environmental needs. Its progress is monitored worldwide through four pillars. Though significant progress is observed, many sub-Sahara African countries are far from reaching the target of 90% by 2030. In order to accelerate the current low to medium scores, it is critical to assess the strength, weaknesses, opportunities and threat of current country framework to identify drawbacks, enablers and priority areas with the aim to accelerate integrated water resource management implementation. As climate shocks projected in the region may affect water resources and sectors differently, it should be included in such analysis. This paper brings climate resilience as the fifth pillar of IWRM analysis framework with Cameroon as a case study to identify and address key improvements areas for water resilient countries in IWRM low performing contexts.
Pattern of Distribution of ABO and Rhesus D Blood Groups among Blood Donors at the Regional Hospital Bamenda, Cameroon
ABO blood group antigens are sugar molecules on red blood cells formed by enzymes encoded by the ABO gene on chromosome 9, while Rhesus (Rh) antigens are proteins encoded by the RHD and RHCE genes. The objective of the study was to determine the prevalence of ABO and Rhesus D Antigens among blood donors in Bamenda. A descriptive cross-sectional research design was adopted for the study. Out of 500 blood donors within the study period, demographic data revealed 330 (66.0%) males, 170 (34.0%) females, 210 (42.0%) within the age range of 25-34 years. The ABO blood group data revealed 328 (65.6%) group O, 87 (17.4%) group A, 79 (15.8%) group B and 6 (1.2%) group AB. The Rh blood group data revealed 465 (93.0%) Rh D positive and 35 (7.0%) Rh D negative groups.
